Mock Caldecott 2016

This past week we held a Mock Caldecott in Room 107.  The Caldecott Medal is awarded each year to a picture book by the American Library Association.  Mrs. Rosenquist chose/nominated the 15 books for our Mock Caldecott, but the third graders in Room 107 read, reviewed, reread and debated the books and their illustrations very carefully before they voted at the end of the week.

On Thursday we Skyped with Mrs Sokolowski’s 3rd grade class because they were doing a Mock Caldecott also!  We shared our favorites and found out we read similar books.

We would like to announce our Mock Caldecott winners for 2016.

I think finding Winnie is a great book but I think growing up pedro. should win because. the book and the book cover are different.why is the book cover and the book different? On the the book pedro is young, pedro is holding a orange and he is not wearing shoes. And on the book cover pedro is older because he is a baseball star. And he is holding a real baseball now.Yes he is wearing shoes.on the book and the book cover. pedro is in the same Position. Also his brother manuel was teaching pedro
to play baseball.when he was young he
couldn’t play with manuel and his friends because he was to young to play
