We will use this blog to share our life in 5th grade with the world. To all my prior students, I wish you a wonderful school year and hope you come by and visit.

It’s Summer! What are you reading?

It’s Summer! What are you reading?

Each week during the summer I will try and write a post about summer reading.  I hope you will visit our blog and post a comment about your own summer reading!  It’s a great way to keep in touch and learn about great books!  Happy Reading and Happy Summer!

So here is what I’m currently reading.  Post a comment and let us hear from you!

genius filesYou might recognize this book because I showed the book trailer last week.  It’s the first of a series.  The main characters are Coke and Pepsi McDonald who are twins.  They have recently  found out that they have been chosen to be part of a genius team of kids that are suppose to help solve the world’s problems.  The only problem is that there is another organization that wants these kids dead!  I’m about half way through the book and so far Coke and Pep are on a trip across the country and have had to avoid the bad guys twice so far!  If you like mystery and adventure I think you will enjoy this series.  Fans of Kate Messner’s Hide and Seek and Capture the Flag will enjoy this book too!

Here are the next 3 books on my TBR list. (TBR = To Be Read) Lisa Graff is the author of Absolutely Almost which we read this year.

Welcome to Third Grade! It’s going to be a great year!

The 2014-2015  school year is just around the corner and I am busy getting ready – and that includes writing this post to welcome all soon-to-be Room 107 Third Graders and their families!  I am so glad you stopped by to visit our class blog to have a look around.  We will use our blog to write about what we are learning during the school year.  Our blog helps us to connect with our families and other students from around the world!  Right now I am writing this post all by myself, but when school begins we will write the posts together.  You will learn how to write your own comments on our blog and other class blogs too!  Blogging is one way we bring the world into our classroom.

I have had a busy and wonderful summer so far.  My husband and I went on a trip to Italy!  It was my first trip to the continent of Europe.  In fact, it was the first time that I left the North American continent!  From ancient Roman buildings and inspiring artwork to volcanoes and beautiful scenery we had an unforgettable time.

Now, get your mom or dad or another adult, and write a comment to this post.  Tell me about your summer.  Do you have any questions about third grade?  I can’t wait to hear from you!

My summer has been fun and relaxing so far.  In July we visited my daughter who moved to Portland, Oregon.  We enjoyed lots of tasty food, including a restaurant called The Waffle Window, where you ordered waffles at a take-out window.  We visited the Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood.  It was July and there were still snowboarders on the summit.  My favorite shopping day was at Powell’s City of Books, which takes up a whole city block.  I purchased lots of new books for the classroom that I can’t wait to share with you.

Summer Vacation

It’s the middle of summer vacation right now and Mrs. Rosenquist is relaxing with friends and family.  I have been enjoying sitting under my gazebo and reading books.  I can even watch television outside on my i-pad.  I have spent time at the beach and visited some of my Norwood teacher friends too!  Mr. Rosenquist and I have worked in our yard and on our house a lot this spring and summer too.

What have you been doing this summer?
