Room 202 Book Reviews 2014

The Friday before Spring Break we finished writing book reviews and students selected their favorites to record on Audioboo.  Enjoy.  And don’t forget we really like comments on our blog!

New Blog for Alumni!

Hello Blog Readers,

As you know this blog is for current students in Mrs. Rosenquist’s second grade class.  We blog about all the different activities we do in our class throughout the year.

For awhile now, I have been thinking about starting a blog for alumni – those are the students that have been in my class in the past.  This new blog will be all about books.  We will write reviews of books that we have read and recommend books to each other.  I will write posts about great books I think you might like, but I will also invite you to be a guest blogger, and write your own posts about books.  In fact, I hope there will be many students interested in writing for the blog.  Since I have alumni from my classes in many grades there will be books for every age!

I plan on launching the blog sometime this summer.  But what I need now are some comments and ideas from you!

What should we call the blog?  It needs a catchy title.

What do you think of the idea?  Would you read the blog?

Would you like to write a guest post for the blog?

Room 202 Book Reviews

During Writing Workshop we have been learning how to write book reviews.  We created a VoiceThread to share some of our recommendations.  After you listen to our book reviews you can leave a comment!  Here’s some techniques we learned to use so that our writing would be more persuasive:

  • catchy leads and strong closings
  • using comparisons
  • using personal connections
  • telling what the book is about without giving away the ending
  • telling about the theme or message of the book

Have you read any of these books?

Have we persuaded you to read any of the books?

Do you have any books that you would recommend?
